SENIOR CITIZENS

There are a variety of comprehensive services and programs available for seniors.

If you are in need of assistance, a Community Elder Information Specialist provided by the Rhode Island Department of Elderly Affairs is available for an appointment at the Center, or by a home visit (if required).  The Specialist can help provide you with information and referrals on the following topics:

Pharmaceutical Assistance

Health Insurance Counseling

Medical Assistance

Counseling on Property Taxes

Long Term Care/Nursing Home

Senior Employment

Heating Assistance

Financial Management

If you are in need of more in-depth guidance, you may be directly introduced to the Geriatric Case Manager who is also located at the Center.   It is the Case Managers role to assess and evaluate seniors in all aspects of senior care issues.  The Case Manager works through all cases until there is final resolution.  If necessitated, the Case Manager may make a referral to another agency or organization if more specialized care is needed.

Additional programs at the Center include:

Daily Meals Program

Educational and Cultural Entertainment

Field Trips

Health Screening

Recreational Activities such as Exercise Classes, Line Dancing, and Sewing Classes

Special Club Events such as Opera, Card League, and Italian Conversations.

Transportation is provided to the Center for those in the area that participate in the Daily Meals Program or for those who have a medical appointment.  Additional information and  resources relating to senior care issues  are available at: www.elderweb.com
